SAY Dream Center Approved!
We are so honored to announce that the Santa Rosa City Council approved our Dream Center project with a unanimous vote tonight. Throughout the approval process, we have been working hard to reach out to the community: we have met with Bennett Valley neighbors to hear their concerns and ideas, we have heard from supporters who have wanted to know how they can help.
Most importantly, we’ve worked with youth who need a space like the Dream Center and have been listening to their dreams. It’s because of them that we have worked so hard to design the best programs possible, for youth like Asia, who never wants to experience homelessness again, or Jeramy, who wants to own a ’67 Mustang Fastback and become a mechanical engineer.
What’s next? We’ll be keeping you up to date on our blog, facebook page and in our newsletter. Our project team is in the process of finalizing plans for the building’s remodel. Our fund development team is working to secure funding for the operations of the new housing program at the Dream Center, and we are pleased to announce that the County of Sonoma has committed $1,000,000 over 5 years to help fund operations at the Dream Center.
If you are wondering how you can help us make this dream a reality please don’t wait to get involved! SAY is already a Dream Center for our youth. We help over 2,000 youth and families annually with housing, counseling and jobs programs, and there are so many ways for you to help. If you are interested in getting involved, just give our volunteer coordinator a call: Blake Baxley (707) 800-3971 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
