SAYing Thank You to Spring Lake Village!

A few years ago, we got a phone call from Gwen Zeller, inquiring about hosting a small fundraiser in her community. Gwen’s vision was to get the residents who live at Spring Lake Village to donate in support of the youth we serve here at SAY. We were thrilled by her call, and offered to come speak to the community and talk about all the work we do. Gwen figured she’d be able to raise maybe $5,000. That first year, in 2012, the residents of Spring Lake Village donated over $17,000 to our programs!

From that first idea, we knew we had a special partnership, not just with Gwen, but everyone who chose to donate and support our young people. In fact, Spring Lake Village hosted the very first fundraiser for the SAY Dream Center capital campaign, and it was only right to host a special ceremony honoring their generosity.

In February we hosted a gratitude ceremony, and are dedicating the residential courtyard here at the Dream Center to Spring Lake Village, in recognition of their generosity. You can read more about that event on the Press Democrat’s story.
