Why We Love Lip Balm
How many 12-year-old business owners and philanthropists do you know? There aren’t many, but Sadie Asker is one of them. She started her own lip balm business, Lips For Living, and has been donating 10 percent of the sales to SAY.
Sadie decided to donate after she and her mother, Brandi Asker, attended our Here we Come to SAY The Day fundraiser in May, 2016. She wanted to donate to a worthy cause, and after learning about all SAY does, it was the perfect fit. “They really seemed like they knew what they were doing,†Sadie said.
After months of trial and error, Sadie perfected the mixture of beeswax, coconut oil, and essential oils to create five flavors of lip balm—lavender, peppermint, grapefruit, cinnamon, and no-scent.
Brandi said her daughter has shown an entrepreneurial spirit from a young age. She does well as a businesswoman because she’s not afraid to meet people and sell her product. She’s already landed her first retailer, Morpheus Medical Aesthetics, at 2800 Cleveland Ave., Suite A in Santa Rosa.
Since Sadie is a minor, Brandi has to put the business in her name until Sadie is 18 years old, but she’s happy to do so. “Any way we can support her, we will,†she said.
The lip balm goes for $5 a piece, and you can order them online at pinkmohawkgear.com. You can also follow the business’s Instagram account, @LipsForLiving.
