Meal Train

We are in critical need of prepared meals for youth utilizing our shelter. These youth are working to stabilize their lives, and we are supporting them in their efforts, including providing basic necessities like a warm meal and a safe, comfortable place to sleep. This is where our Meal Train comes in!

We are currently requesting prepared meals to feed 20 youth. After all, a home-cooked meal makes for a happy heart.

Event Support

Thank you for your interest in becoming an event volunteer!

We host two annual fundraisers in the fall and the spring. Please contact Susan Boyle at Susan.Boyle@saysc.org to learn more about the available opportunities for events.

Administrative Support

Dream Center Receptionist:

The Dream Center is seeking a volunteer that can provide world-class customer service during every interaction, including answering incoming calls, directing callers and visitors to appropriate personnel, and completing other tasks as assigned. The volunteer commitment for this position is 2 hours per day, 1–2 days per week, for a minimum of 6 months. We have openings for Monday and Thursday mornings.

Data and Development Support Volunteer:

Working with the Development Operations Director, the data entry volunteer receives, reviews, and enters data into the Raiser’s Edge database in support of SAY’s fundraising efforts. An ideal position for volunteers interested in a future within the nonprofit field. The volunteer will also work to “clean up” data as requested. This volunteer position is key to the donor operations team’s capacity to serve youth. Ideal hours and days would be 3-4 hours, 1-2 days per week. Flexible based on volunteer availability. Position requires minimum 6 month commitment.

Program Support

The housing program is the heart of the work we do at SAY. Our emergency teen shelter is seeking two volunteers eager to assist staff members and support youth utilizing our housing services.

Career Support

Our Career Department helps high school students in Santa Rosa City Schools prepare for their future with connections to education, internships, and work-based learning programs. We are seeking volunteers with professional experience who can help our students gain valuable career-readiness skills. Opportunities arise at different times throughout the school year, in different school locations. Interested volunteers can contact Susan.Boyle@saysc.org for information about joining our Career Volunteer email list.  Volunteers are able to sign up for events that work with their schedules.

Mock Interviewer:

Mock interviewers help students practice, prepare and strategize for future interviews. Authentic and engaging interview questions will be presented and students will be asked to respond, as in a real interview. Interviewers will coach students through the process, so they feel better prepared to enter the work force.

Business Networking Volunteers:

A Business Networking Event is an activity for students to interact with a variety of industry partners to practice their networking skills and learn about career paths available to them. Students will have the opportunity to ask professionals questions and engage them in career-related discussion. We welcome volunteers with a wide variety of professional backgrounds to participate.

Guest Speaker:

We are seeking volunteers with professional experience (in a wide variety of fields) to present in the classroom on a topic directly related to the current course curriculum. Volunteers will be contacted according to student interest in specific industries. We are looking to expand our roster of interested candidates.
