One Cold Night 2018

Social Advocates for Youth‘s fall fundraiser, One Cold Night, is a county-wide movement of individuals, known as Sleepers, who accept the challenge to sleep outside for one night so that homeless and at-risk youth don’t have to.

This event harnesses the power of the individual, combined with the power of a community, to affect real change at a local level. Every dollar raised by Sleepers and their networks goes directly to getting young people off the streets, out of human trafficking, and connected with caring adults and supportive services.

This year, One Cold Night includes six sleeping sites that represent key areas of Sonoma County – and the unique struggles and challenges young people face there. Every night, 515 youth ages 12-25 experience homelessness alone in our community, one of the highest rate per capita in the United States.

Tonight, 515 young people under the age of 25 will spend the night alone and vulnerable to the elements. Youth are still the most unsheltered population in Sonoma County and need services that help them build resiliency and empower them to thrive as healthy, self-sufficient adults who positively engage with our community and contribute to the local workforce and economy.

One Cold Night is coming to your community on December 7th with Sleepers spending one cold night outside in six key areas of Sonoma County – and we would love to have YOU join us!

This event is a key demonstration to young people experiencing homelessness that our community cares – that we cannot stay indoors while so many youth remain vulnerable outside.

One Cold Night would not be possible without the generous support of our volunteers. This year, we will need more than 60 volunteers to make this fundraiser possible.

If you would like to support SAY by volunteering at One Cold Night, please click here to sign up.

After you sign up, we will send you more information regarding your volunteer assignment via email. Thank you in advance for your generous support!

One Cold Night makes a meaningful impact on our community, shows solidarity with youth experiencing homelessness and disconnection, and builds awareness that inspires more and more people each year to step up and protect the most vulnerable kids in Sonoma County.

But you don’t have to sleep out to make a difference! Join us for One Cold Gathering to kick-off our One Cold Night event on December 7, 2018. One Cold Gathering is an opportunity to support our Sleepers before they embark on their night outside, learn more about current services and program happening at SAY, and show your support for the youth we serve. All community members are welcome!

We ask that attendees bring $10 gift cards for Target, Big 5, or Safeway to help SAY provide clothing and food for youth in our housing, counseling, and job readiness programs.

Please RSVP for One Cold Gathering by clicking here.
