One Cold Night 2019

Social Advocates for Youth‘s fall fundraiser, One Cold Night, is a county-wide movement of individuals who accept the challenge to sleep outside for one night to raise awareness and life-saving funds for homeless young people in our community.

This event harnesses the power of the individual, combined with the power of a community, to affect real change at a local level. Every dollar raised by Sleepers and their networks goes directly to getting young people off the streets, out of human trafficking, and connected with caring adults and supportive services.

This year, youth homelessness has increased by 29% in Sonoma County. This means 657 young people under the age of 25 are experiencing homelessness in our community right now. Youth are still the most unsheltered population in Sonoma County – 93% will sleep outside tonight, vulnerable and alone.

Get involved. Be an advocate. #OneColdNight2019

One Cold Night will take place on November 8th with Sleepers spending one cold night outside at the Santa Rosa Junior College. We would love to have YOU join us!

More than 650 young people won’t have a safe place to call home tonight. The time to act is now – if you are interested in signing up to be a Sleeper for this bold event, please get in touch with us!

All participation inquires can be directed to:

SAY will be hosting a Sleeper Kickoff on Thursday, August 29 where you will be able to learn more about the needs of vulnerable youth in our community, sign up to participate, and hear from past Sleepers about why they’re passionate about sleeping out. All while enjoying complimentary bites and drinks from our host, Beer Baron in downtown Santa Rosa. RSVP for the kickoff event here.

One Cold Night would not be possible without the generous support of our volunteers. This year, we will need more than 60 volunteers to make this fundraiser possible.

Stay tuned for our online sign up form! If you would like to sign up early, please email SAY’s volunteer coordinator at

One Cold Night makes a meaningful impact on our community, shows solidarity with youth experiencing homelessness and disconnection, and builds awareness that inspires more and more people each year to step up and protect the most vulnerable kids in Sonoma County.

But you don’t have to sleep out to make a difference! Join us for One Cold Gathering to kick-off our One Cold Night event on November 8, 2019.

One Cold Gathering is an opportunity to support our Sleepers before they embark on their night outside, learn more about current services and program happening at SAY, and show your support for the youth we serve. All community members are welcome!

We ask that attendees bring $10 gift cards for Target, Big 5, or Safeway to help SAY provide clothing and food for youth in our housing, counseling, and job readiness programs.

Please RSVP for One Cold Gathering by clicking here.
